What do we answer when young people ask about love, bodies, sex, identity and gender? We have now launched bedresvar.no – a new Christian website with honest, clear and hopeful answers for young people and young adults.
Young people today are faced with a flood of messages that they must follow their feelings, define their own identity and find out for themselves what is right for them. At the same time, many have questions they find difficult to talk about with anyone.
On bedresvar.no We want to show a different direction. Young people should know that they have infinite value, that their feelings are important without having to determine who they are, and that the choices they make have an impact on their lives and futures.
In working on the website, we reviewed around 1,000 questions and answers from Ung.no. This allowed us to base our work on the questions young people themselves ask and the topics they are actually concerned about.
The result is a series of personal video answers to questions about, among other things, falling in love, boyfriends, boundaries, pornography, self-image, sexual identity, gender, shame, and waiting to have sex.
The questions are grouped into four main categories:
The website also contains in-depth articles on topics such as identity in adolescence, lasting relationships, gender, sexual orientation, marriage, commitment, regret and the opportunity to get a new start.
It is sexologist, author and general manager of the Christian Resource Center, Tone Lise Gustavsen, who gives young people personal answers through short videos.
The answers are based on the Bible and PureRelationship – a biblically anchored and value-based teaching about sexuality, love and relationships, developed by Tone Lise Gustavsen. The content and professional basis have also been reviewed by an advisory professional community with expertise in, among other things, sexology, psychology, psychiatry, social studies, teaching, theology and work with children, young people and families.
Better answer wants to be clear without meeting young people with condemnation. Hope, forgiveness and the opportunity to choose a new direction are therefore central to the answers. We want to help young people not only ask: Is it legal? but also to ask themselves the questions:
Is this good for me? Is it building my life and the future I want?
The website is primarily developed for youth and young adults, but can also be useful for parents, grandparents, teachers, pastors, and youth leaders.
Many adults want to talk honestly and warmly with young people about sexuality and identity, but may be unsure of how to respond. Better answer can be used as a starting point for conversations at home, in Christian schools, youth groups and churches.
Youth can also submit their own questions. Some may be helped by answers already available on the website, while other questions can be answered personally or form the basis for new videos.
