Kristent Ressurssenter has submitted a consultation response to Bufdir's new proposal for advice for public employees on dealing with gender diversity. The proposal is intended to provide guidance to schools, healthcare personnel and other public services in dealing with gender and identity.
In the consultation response, we warn against Bufdir proposing guidelines that are based on a narrow and ideological framework, while at the same time presenting controversial concepts as established professional knowledge. We believe this could have serious consequences: Biological facts are downplayed, critical professional voices are absent, and the proposals challenge fundamental rights such as freedom of freedom and expression for public employees.
We highlight research, legal assessments and international experiences that Bufdir does not mention – and which show how important it is to approach this field with greater professional breadth, caution and respect for disagreement. In the consultation response, we therefore present clear recommendations for how the advice can be revised, so that employees are not overridden or pressured into ideological claims. The document is based on available sources and concludes with a list of sources that shows the basis for our assessments.
