New study: Young people regret their sexual debut

Have you ever known the feeling that you should do something you're not really ready for – just to fit in? That you have to keep up, otherwise you'll be the one who "doesn't get it"?

At a time when many young people experience strong pressure around sexual debut, this episode addresses a topic that affects far more people than the numbers alone suggest. Tone Lise Gustavsen regularly meets young people who carry this very pressure.

The starting point is a recent study on young people's sexual debut – but this is not a dry review of numbers and statistics. The conversation is about the reality behind the numbers: about pressure, expectations, choices that are made too early, and the consequences that often have to be borne alone afterward.

The study this episode is based on is published by OsloMet and provides important insight into when and under what conditions young people have their sexual debut. It can be read here: https://www.oslomet.no/forskning/forskningsnyheter/seksualdebut

Purity as care and freedom

In the episode, we are clear about the ideal we stand for: purity before marriage. Not as control or moralizing, but as an expression of care. Purity is about freedom, not coercion. About not having to carry unnecessary baggage, comparisons, wounds and attachments into what could one day become the most important relationship in life.

At the same time, we talk honestly about risk. When sex is early, casual, or pressured, it often comes with more than what is promised: insecurity, confusion, regret – and experiences that leave a mark. We also address how the number of partners can affect trust, security, and satisfaction in relationships later in life.

But this is important:
No matter what you've done. No matter what you regret. You're not done.
There is a new beginning. Recovery is real, and your worth is not determined by your history.
