Now we&#039;re following up with a thorough review of why this is happening \u2013 and the thinking behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, many government agencies, NGOs, universities and colleges teach that children are sexual beings with the potential for pleasure. It is conveyed that the foundation for good sexual health is laid at an early age, and that this is crucial for a good life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of this thinking, staff working with children and young people are taught that children&#039;s sexual play should not be stopped. It is argued that intervention can be harmful, and that exploration \u2013 including masturbation and sexually charged play between children \u2013 must be met with acceptance in order to normalise sexuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kindergarten thus becomes an arena where this understanding influences practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe this is problematic.
