Every month in Norway, around 1,000 self-determined abortions are performed. Behind every number lies a life \u2013 a little human being who never got to take their first breath. That is why we light 1000 candles for life <\/strong>every month for a year \u2013 to highlight the value and dignity of life. During the year, 12,000 candles will be lit \u2013 approximately the same number of self-determined abortions performed annually in Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not light the candles to condemn, but to remember. To remind a people that every life has infinite value. To awaken conscience. To bring light where darkness has taken too much space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the candles are lit in front of the Parliament, it is like a silent cry \u2013 a prayer that Norway will once again love life, protect the weakest, and see the child in the mother's womb as the little human being it actually is \u2013 both scientifically and theologically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A candle lit at conception:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The logo of 1000 Lights for Life<\/em> is more than a symbol \u2013 it is a testament to life\u2019s deepest mystery. It is inspired by a natural phenomenon that scientists have observed with modern microscopes: The moment a sperm cell fuses with an egg cell, millions of tiny sparks are released \u2013 a microscopic fireworks display of zinc ions that emit light. The phenomenon is called a \u201czinc spark.\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first glimmer of light in a new person's life<\/strong>.A scientifically measurable moment \u2013 but also a spiritual mystery \u2013 where God himself ignites the flame of life in the mother's womb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible described this long before anyone saw it in a laboratory: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abI was made in secret and woven deep in the earth. 
Your eyes saw me when I was a fetus. 
All the days were written in your book, 
They took shape before one of them arrived.\"\u00bb

And in\u00a0John 1<\/strong>:9\u00a0<\/strong>it says:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abThis was the true light,\u00a0
which enlightens every man who comes into the world"\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how faith and science meet in the same truth: 
Where science sees a glimmer of energy, we see God's Word and fingerprints.
The light of the Logos reminds us that every human life \u2013 no matter how small \u2013 begins with a light from God himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
